The London Zoo - Make Wonder Visit

London Zoo is the world's oldest scientific zoo. It was opened in London on 27 April 1828, and was originally intended to be used as a collection for scientific study. It was eventually opened to the public in 1847. The London Zoo is Britain’s best known zoo, it’s National zoo, and one of the most famous and prestigious collections in the world.

London Zoo is a zoo of enormous variety and complexity. As well as its huge collection of animals it also houses the Institute of Zoology, a body of around 100 research scientists, funded in part through the Universities Finance Council. Their work currently covers seventy or more projects from the examination of rhino urine, to the insemination of pandas.

The Zoo is currently (2008) undergoing a renovation project aimed at replacing cages with enclosures which recreate animals' natural environments, giving a better lifestyle to the animals, and a more realistic experience to visitors. London Zoo is located on the northern side of regents Park, the nearest underground tube station is Camden Town.

Today it is having a huge collection of 755 species of animals, with 15,104 individuals, and so much attractive wonders with all these it one of the largest collections in the United Kingdom. The 36-acre (15-hectare) zoo exhibits thousands of specimens. It has had outstanding success breeding Père David’s deer, as well as the pygmy hippopotamus, musk ox, Chilean flamingo, and polar bear.

Normally entry fare of London Zoo for Adult is £18.00 and for Child £14.20. This attraction is free of charge for children under 3 and an entry fee will be charged on the spot to children aged 3 & 4.London Zoo is open daily at 10.00hrs and closed on Christmas Day.
