Nice Place To Visit Eton College

Eton College was founded by Henry VI as a charity school to provide free education to seventy poor boys who would then go on to King's College, Cambridge, founded by the same King in 1441. Henry took Winchester College as his model, visiting on many occasions, borrowing its Statutes and removing its Headmaster and some of the Scholars to start his new school. In the 19th century, the architect John Shaw Jr (1803–1870) became surveyor to Eton. He designed new parts of the college which helped provide better pupil accommodation. Eton College, often referred to simply as Eton, is a British independent school for boys aged 13 to 18. Eton today is a larger school than it has been for much of its history. Now days so much great happening more comparison to the past, there are entire house gatherings every evening, usually around 8:05-8:30 p.m. These are known as Prayers, due to their original nature. The housemaster and boys have an opportunity to make announcements, and sometimes the boys provide light entertainment. Manyinter-house competitions occur, mostly in the field of sport. Eton has continued to deliver a very high standard of education with an extraordinary array of subjects and activities tailored to boys’ interests, allied with a very high level of pastoral care and sports opportunities. Drama continues to flourish, with some 20 productions during the year including School Plays Henry IV (an adaptation of both parts) and Michael Frayn’s Donkeys’ Years, house plays, drama competitons and several plays produced as well as acted by boys.
